The feeling that we were all participating in an historic event abounded and a spirit of excitement and celebration pervaded the entire olam. Before our eyes, a large tract of undeveloped land in Naugatuck, CT was transformed into a makom Torah. We drove up to a stunning edifice that serves as the home of Mesivta Yesodei Hatorah and Kollel Sifsei Dov. The impressive new housing that was built for the kollel yungerleit caught our attention and the vision of building a residential Torah community, blending b’nei Torah and ba’alei batim, in the adjoining forty-eight acres captured our imagination.
More than three hundred people, including roshei yeshiva, rabbonim, residents from the nearby Waterbury community, parents and talmidim gathered on Sunday, 28 Tishrei, Oct 27, to celebrate the chanukas habayis of Mesivta Yesodei Hatorah and kollel Sifsei Dov. Many came to offer chizuk but left themselves strengthened and inspired as they witnessed the development of a majestic campus of Torah.
